Yoga can be calming, balancing and a great workout but nothing can interrupt the flow of your vinyasas like a funky yoga mat. Yoga mat cleaners and wipes can be downright pricey and finding a cleaner aroma that you want to inhale every practice can be a challenge as well. That’s why DIY yoga mat sprays can be a fun, inexpensive and versatile solution! Here is what you will need:

  • Spray Bottle

  • Bottled Water

  • White Vinegar (Optional to combat a really funky mat! You may want to add a couple extra drops of your essential oils to combat the vinegar aroma.)

  • STATERA™ essential oils

You’ll want to fill your spray bottle almost to the top with bottled water. If you are using vinegar fill it ¾ with water and the rest of the way with the white vinegar. Add a few drops of essential oils, we recommend 3 drops of Lavender and 1 drop of Melissa but you can change it up every time! Two drops of Peppermint and one drop of Melissa make a nice blend as well and Lavender stands nicely on its own.

Note, the amount of essential oil required will vary depending on the size of your spray bottle. Small bottles will require less and larger bottles may need a drop or two more. Its best to not overdo it, start with one drop of each oil you would like to add and then work your way up until you find the perfect aromatic balance.

Now simply give it a shake, spray your mat 2-3 times per side and wipe down with a towel.

Namaste!
